I fished some of the time with a paste bait – looking for variety and managed several white paco (to complement the black one I had on last year’s trip,) several rohu carp, that put up a hell of a good fight, my first chao phraya catfish and a reasonably sized Tilapia. If I had not been stupid enough to wander along the bank after lunch to scrounge some suntan cream from another Brit, who was fishing the lake and stayed a while to chat, I would have even caught my first Siamese giant carp. One was landed on my rod in my absence – although not a real giant at about 15 kilos – it was certainly a beautiful looking fish."
