I would like to thank you very much for arranging such a successful trip for me, despite my last minute arrival and departure changes and especially since it coincided with your very lengthy return from the United States. Once again everything worked like clock-work. I had a marvellous time as well as being very lucky! Your teammate, Kik, was a fantastic guide and really pulled out all of the stops to make sure I had the chances for as much success as possible.
And the success was beyond my wildest dreams – hence the reference to luck! As you know and no doubt described to him on this trip I was interested in a variety of fish as well as hopefully getting a chance at a big barramundi and a “small” arapaima. Within the first couple of hours I had two barramundi including one estimated by Kik as “at least 15 kilos” – other fishermen who saw it said it was the biggest they had ever seen and should go at least 16-17Kg. I have never got used to thinking of fish in kilos – despite 25 years in Mainland Europe so I am conservatively describing it as over 30lb!!"
